My focus for this month is to “take gentle care of my needs” and honour me :-)

I remembered (aha!) that my life is actually supposed to bring pleasure and I should take my life (the one and only one I have) and really do my best to soak it all up and enjoy my life (and have fun)!

I cannot be of any real use to myself or anyone else, if I do not take time for myself and what I need to feel good and healthy.

So, I am deepening my practice by allowing myself to notice.

To sense.

How a hug feels. The excitement of closing a deal. The sun warm on my face. The smell of jasmine in the spring air. The laugh of a worker in the road. Infinite daily sips of inspiration and gratitude.

And when I notice pleasure,  joy and beauty, I stop and allow myself to fill with a sense of gratitude – and literally grow the sensation in my body and allow myself to really FEEL gratitude so that it becomes a reality – not just a concept “Oh I have so much to be grateful for” but an actual experience and containment and growing of it in my awareness. ( I might even do a little celebration dance or allow myself to smile – helping my body sink into the experience further and infuse my cells with the happy hormones)

When I need a time out to unplug so I can “refuel” and “re-calibrate”, I take it. And it not only makes me more productive and focused, but it feels good to be able to give myself the gift of self-care and respect.

This is how you can actually change your chemistry and experience – by paying attention (for longer than 20 seconds – I dare you, see if you can stay with gratitude as a sensation for 20 seconds before moving onto the next “thing to do”) – allow yourself to “be with” the actual experience.

Life is so NOT ordinary. If we are actually awake to the infinite supply of inspiration available to us, we can not only fill up ourselves with mojo juice and creativity, we can also feel more connected, balanced and make better decisions – and really experience the “extra -ordinary” in the “ordinary”. You have this skill – you were born curious – and no day is the same as the next!

I love how Sir Terry Pratchett (fav author) sums up the human “boredom” condition:

“Do you know what it feels like to be aware of every star, every blade of grass? Yes. You do. You call it ‘opening your eyes again.’ But you do it for a moment. We have done it for eternity. No sleep, no rest, just endless… endless experience, endless awareness. Of everything. All the time. How we envy you, envy you! Lucky humans, who can close your minds to the endless deeps of space! You have this thing you call… boredom? That is the rarest talent in the universe! We heard a song — it went ‘Twinkle twinkle little star….’ What power! What wondrous power! You can take a billion trillion tons of flaming matter, a furnace of unimaginable strength, and turn it into a little song for children! You build little worlds, little stories, little shells around your minds, and that keeps infinity at bay and allows you to wake up in the morning without screaming!”

— Terry Pratchett (A Hat Full of Sky)

So what inspires you? (“In- spire” literally means to breathe in)

What can you start to notice, make space for and breathe in?

Stay curious and breath it in – allow your cells, heart and spirit to soak it up and be infused with inspiration!
